(천사미사곡) Credo- 해석

 

 

Credo in unum Deum ..... I believe in one God, 

Patrem omnipotentem ..... the Father almighty, 

factorem caeli et terrae ..... Maker of heaven and earth,

visibilium omnium et invisibilium ..... and all things visible and invisible. 

 한 분이신 하느님을 저는 믿나이다. 전능하신 아버지,

하늘과 땅과 유형무형한 만물의 창조주를 (믿나이다).

 

Et in unum Dominum Iesum Christum ..... And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, 

Filium Dei unigenitum ..... the only-begotten Son of God.  

Et ex Patre natum ..... Born of the Father 

ante omnia saecula ..... before all ages.

 또한 한 분이신 주 예수 그리스도, 하느님의 외아들

영원으로부터 성부에게서 나신 분을 (믿나이다). 

 

Deum de Deo ..... God of God, 

lumen de lumine ..... light of light, 

Deum verum de Deo vero ..... true God of true God.

 하느님에게서 나신 하느님, 빛에서 나신 빛

참 하느님에게서 나신 참 하느님으로서,

 

Genitum non factum ..... Begotten, not made; 

consubstantialem Patri ..... of one being with the Father: 

per quem omnia facta sunt ..... by whom all things were made. 

 창조되지 않고 나시어, 성부와 한 본체로서

만물을 창조하셨음을  (믿나이다).  

 

註解

 Latin dictionary 에서 credo 를 찾아 보면,  credo -dere -didi -ditum 으로 함께 적혀 있는데,

이는 credo credere, credidi, creditum 를 편의상 줄여서 표기한 것이며, 각각의 문법적인 의미는

 

- credo : I believe, I trust, (나는) 믿다 [직설법 능동형 일인칭단수 현재어형]

- credere : to believe, to trust, [infinitive, (현재)부정형]

- credidi : I believed, I have believed [직설법 능동형 일인칭단수 과거(perfect)어형]

- creditum : (having been) believed [(passive) perfect participle, 과거분사어형]

 

위 네가지 기본어미변화 pattern 으로써 그 동사의 전체적인 어형변화의 기본형식(pattern)을 알게 됨.

credis : you (단수) believe // credit : he (she) believes // credimus : we believe

 

그리고 credo in 뒤에 따르는 명사 및 이를 꾸미는 형용사는 모두 목적격 (accusative case) 어형임.

이를테면 위에서, Deum, Patrem, factorem, Dominum Iesum Christum Filium, natum, etc 

 

unus -a -um : one, single, alone

unus Deus : (남성)주격 // uni Dei : 소유격 // unum Deum : 목적격 // uno Deo : 여격 및 탈격

 

omnipotens -entis : almighty

Pater omnipotens : 주격 // Patris omnipotentis : 소유격 // Patrem omnipotentem : 목적격

Patri omnipotenti : 여격 (dative case) // Patre omnipotenti : 탈격 (ablative case)

 

factor -oris [m] :  maker , creater, 창조주 // factorem : factor 의 목적격

caelum -i [n] : sky, heaven, 하늘

terra -ae [f] : earth, ground, land, 땅

caeli et terrae : caelum et terra (하늘과 땅)의 소유격

 

visibilis visibile : visible, (눈에) 보이는

invisibilis -e : invisible, (눈에) 보이지 않는

omnis omne : all, every // omnium : 복수소유격어형 

visibilium omnium et invisibilium : omnis visibilis et invisibilis 의 (복수)소유격

 

et in : et credo in 의 뜻으로 해석함

Dominum Iesum Christum : 목적격어형 // Dominus Iesus Christus : 주격어형 

Filium Dei unigenitum : Filius Dei unigenitus 의 목적격어형 // Dei  : Deus 의 소유격

unigenitus -a -um : only-begotten, 외아들 // unigenitum : unigenitus(남성주격)의 목적격어형

genitus -a -um : newly born, begotten // genitum : genitus(남성주격형용사)의 목적격어형

 

ex : out of, from [탈격지배전치사 : 이 전치사 뒤에 따르는 명사는 반드시 탈격어형임]

natus -a -um : born, nascor nasci [to be born] 의 과거분사(perfect participle)어형

  natus -i [m] : a son, 아들 // natum : natus(남성주격) 의 목적격어형

  nata -ae [f] : a daughter, 딸

 

ante : before, in front of [목적격지배전치사]

omnia : omnis [all, every] 의 중성복수목적격 및 중성복수주격어형

saeculum -i [n] : the period of one human generation, 世代 // saecula : 복수 주격 및 목적격어형

 

lumen -inis [n] : light, 빛 // lumine : 탈격 (ablative case)

de : down from, from [탈격지배전치사]

verus -a -um : true, real, proper

Deus verus : (남성) 주격 // Dei veri : 소유격 // Deum verum : 목적격 // Deo vero : 여격 및 탈격

 

facio facere feci factum : to make, do // factus -a -um : facere 의 과거분사(perfect participle)어형

  factum : factus(남성주격) 의 목적격어형, 수동형형용적의미, made

  facta sunt : 수동형 삼인칭복수(중성) 과거(perfect)어형 [주어 omnia 가 중성복수어형임]

  factus est : 수동형 삼인칭단수(남성) 과거(perfect)어형 [주어 homo 는 남성단수임]

 

consubstantialis -e : 한 本體의 // consubstantialem : 단수(남성및여성)목적격어형

per : through, by [목적격지배전치사]

 

per quem omnia facta sunt 에서

quem 은 qui [who, 남성(단수)주격]의 목적격관계대명사로서 영어 whom 과 같은 뜻이고,

종속절 [Omnia per Patrem facta sunt] 또는 [Omnia per Jesum Christum facta sunt]를 인도함.

 

Qui propter nos homines ..... Who for us men, 

et propter nostram salutem ..... and for our salvation 

descendit de caelis ..... came down from heaven. 

 성자께서는 저희 인간을 위하여, 저희 구원을 위하여

하늘에서 내려오셨음을 (믿나이다).

 

Et incarnatus est ..... And was made flesh 

de Spiritu Sancto ex Maria Virgine ..... by the Holy Spirit, of the Virgin Mary: 

et homo factus est ..... and was made man. 

 또한 성령으로 인하여 동정 마리아에게서 육신을 취하시어

사람이 되셨음을 (믿나이다).

 

Crucifixus etiam pro nobis ..... He was also crucified for us, 

sub Pontio Pilato passus ..... suffered under Pontius Pilate, 

et sepultus est ..... and was buried. 

 본시오 빌라도 통치 아래서 저희를 위하여

십자가에 못박혀 수난하고 묻히셨으며

 

Et resurrexit tertia die ..... And on the third day He arose again,

secundum Scripturas ..... according to the Scriptures. 

Et ascendit in caelum ..... And ascending into heaven, 

sedet ad dexteram Patris ..... He sitteth at the right hand of the Father. 

 성서 말씀대로 사흗날에 부활하시어

하늘에 올라 성부 오른편에 앉아계심을 (믿나이다).

 

Et iterum venturus est cum gloria ..... And He shall come again with glory 

iudicare vivos et mortuos ..... to judge the livijg and the dead: 

cuius regni non erit finis ..... and of His kingdom there shall be no end. 

 그분께서는 산 이와 죽은 이를 심판하러 영광 속에 다시 오시리니

그분의 나라는 끝이 없으리이다. 

 

註解

 라틴말에서 전치사와 접속사는 어형변화가 없다.

전치사에 따라 그 후속명사가 목적격 (accusative case)이 오는 경우가 많으나

다음과 같이 반드시 탈격 (ablative case)을 수반하는 전치사 들도 있다.

 

a, ab : from // cum : with // de : down from, concerning

e, ex : out of // pro : before, on behalf of // sine : without

 

그런데 전치사 in 과 sub 의 경우에는 목적격 및 탈격이 모두 사용되나, 다음과 같이 그 의미가 다름.

in + accusative, sub + accusative : into, up, (움직임의) 방향을 표현함

in + ablative, sub + ablative : in, under, (동사의) 장소를 표현함

  

qui : 관계대명사 남성주격어형으로서 앞의 Iesus Christus Filius Dei 를 이름

propter : on account of, because of [목적격지배전치사]

nos : we, 인칭대명사 ego 의 복수, 주격 및 목적격 어형

noster -tra -trum : our, ours

 

homo hominis [m]: human being, man  

salus  -utis [f] : salvation, 구원

nos homines : 목적격 복수, 우리 사람들을 // me hominem : 목적격 단수, 나 사람을

nostram salutem : (여성)단수 목적격 // nostra salus : (여성)단수 주격, 우리들의 구원

 

descendo descendere, descendi, descensum : to descend, come down, 내려오다

ascendo ascendere, ascendi, ascensum : to ascend, go up, 오르다

descendit : descendere 의 삼인칭단수과거(perfect)어형

ascendit : ascendere 의 삼인칭단수과거(perfect)어형

 

Et incarnatus est  에서

incarnatus : caro [flesh] 와 natus [born] 의 합성어인듯, 고전라전어사전에는 수록되지 않음

tertia die : on the third day [여성단수탈격어형] *시간을 설명하는(time when) 경우에 탈격을 씀

finis -is [m] : end, limit, boundary

 

따라서 cuius regni non erit finis 는 Finis regni Christi non erit 와 같은 해석이 될 듯

Dominum et vivificantem ..... the Lord and Giver of life, 

 또한 주님이시며 생명을 주시는 성령을 (믿나이다).

 

Qui ex Patre Filioque procedit ..... who proceedeth from the Father  and the Son. 

Qui cum Patre et Filio ..... Who together with the Father and the Son 

simul adoratur et conglorificatur ..... is no less adored and glorified: 

qui locutus est per Prophetas ..... who spoke by the prophets. 

 성령께서는 성부와 성자에게서 발하시고

성부와 성자와 더불어 영광과 흠숭을 받으시며

예언자들을 통하여 말씀하셨나이다.

 

Et unam sanctam catholicam ..... And in one, holy, catholic 

et apostolicam Ecclesiam ..... and apostolic Church. 

 하나이고 거룩하고 보편되며 사도로부터 이어오는 교회를 (믿나이다).

 

Confiteor unum baptisma ..... I confess one baptism 

in remissionem peccatorum ..... for the remission of sins. 

Et expecto resurrectionem mortuorum ..... And I look for resurrection of the dead. 

Et vitam venturi saeculi ..... And the life of the world to come. Amen
